Argentina ultimately wins 3-2 in penalty kicks
After a thrilling match that ended in a 1-1 draw, Argentina defeated Colombia 3-2 in a penalty shootout to advance to the Copa America final. Lautaro Martinez scored the winning penalty for Argentina, which will now face Brazil in the final on Saturday.
Lionel Messi scored the opening goal for Argentina in the 7th minute, but Colombia equalized through Luis Diaz in the 61st minute. The match went to penalties after extra time, and Argentina eventually prevailed. Emiliano Martinez, Argentine goalkeeper, saved three of Colombia's penalties, including one from Juventus’ Juan Cuadrado, to seal the victory.
The victory was Argentina's first major trophy since the 1993 Copa America, and it was Messi's first international title with the senior team. The Copa America final will be played on Saturday at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
