NBA Insider Adds Fuel to Trade Rumor Fire Involving Knicks Star
The Knicks are exploring a potential trade for Donovan Mitchell, sources say.
The move would reunite Mitchell with his former coach, Tom Thibodeau.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks have shown interest in acquiring Mitchell from the Utah Jazz.
The Jazz declined to comment on the speculation, but sources told Wojnarowski that they are listening to offers for Mitchell.
Mitchell, 25, is a three-time All-Star and one of the most dynamic young players in the NBA.
He averaged 25.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game last season.
The Knicks have been looking to add a star player to their roster, and Mitchell would fit the bill.
He would give the Knicks a much-needed scorer and playmaker.
The Knicks are coming off a disappointing season, finishing 37-45 and missing the playoffs.
They are hoping to make a splash in the offseason and Mitchell would be a big addition.
The Jazz, meanwhile, are in a rebuilding mode.
They traded away Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this offseason.
Mitchell could be the next player to be moved as the Jazz look to start over.
